A reflection will be proposed on Mundane Astrology capacities and boundaries, in its present condition, to lay milestones that allow to precise the expectable challenges for the coming years with an approach that combines the study of planetary cycles and geopolitical studies.
Exercice of forecast in the past : the 1914 crisis and the trigger of World War I
Forecast approach method
Some people admit the eminent dignity of Mundane Astrology since it treats of people and nations collective destiny and not only of individuals lot, and they believe Mundane Astrology practice is much more difficult than individual astrology practice. In my opinion, it has always seemed to me, but maybe it has to do with a specific turn of mind, it was easier to practice Mundane Astrology rather than individual astrology. Of course, Mundane Astrology practice requires a quality that is rather not common nowadays, which is the capacity to go out of oneself and to get freed of the weight of workaday so as to come into resonance with the vast world in its largest spatial and temporal dimemsions. The relative « simplicity » of Mundane Astrology practice has to see with the management of a reasoned approach which starts from the slowest and the deepest –combinations of trans-Saturnian planets cycles- and which goes to some superficial vibrations, of which the monthly Moon-Sun cycle is an outcome. It is as if we had to work with two interlocked sets : downstairs, the one of the slow planets which turns round itself according to a cycle of about five centuries, and upstairs, the one of the speed planets which goes from the monthly Sun-Moon cycle to the biennial Mars and Venus cycles. In fact, each one of these sets consists of two zones, one slower and one faster. For the slow planets, we have the trans-Saturnians trio with the Neptune-Pluto, Uranus-Neptune and Uranus-Pluto cycles to which the Saturnian and the Jupiterian cycles add up. For the speed planets, we can consider on one hand the Mercury-Venus-Mars trio and on the other hand the Sun and the Moon. This phenomenon of cyclic « interlocking » provides the astrologer his axis of work. And it is important to relate the deviations in terms of cycles durations with what we could call, in succession of Fernand Braudel, the three temporal scales of history. These three temporal scales can be more or less detected in the apprehension the historians themselves have of historical reality : some short-term phenomena which can last for some decades and to which correspond some slow planets cycles (Jupiter-Saturn) or trans-Saturnians planets cycles (Saturnian cycles or Jupiterian multi-cycles), some short term conjunctures to which corresponds the game of speed planets in the core of a slow planets astrological configuration. For the Mundane Astrology practitioner, the studying of the way how the historian appraise the phenomenum of historical duration according to their different schools, is a fecund meditation subject. For the moment, we will just mention this citation of Fernand Braudel which has been presented by Yves Lenoble in a book that tends to apply the cyclic approach developped by Mundane Astrology to the study of individuals charts :
The past is not constituted by a succession of simple facts but by a simultaneity of different times. There is the short time related to individuals, to every-day life, to our illusions and to our hasty awakenings. This short time is the one of the journalist facing any kind of forms of life. There is the short time economic, social, literary, institutional, religious, geographical, even a hurricane or a storm for instance. This is the time of politics, in its ordinary meaning, and the time of general information. This is what I call the narration. Nearing the narration, there is the past by large slices, which dominates the events, that is to say some periods of ten, twenty or fifty years. The study of the medium time, generally the one of a life or the one of a generation, is particularly necessary for understanding economic life and social life, which evolve by cycles. And, by striving to that time, we understand that historians have been lead to take an interest less to the political life, which is mostly considered from the event side in the short term, than to the rhythms of economic evolution and to the social groups metamorphosises.
Finally, there is the long term duration, the age-old trend. So as to understand the long duration, the easiest consists in talking about the geographical constraint. For centuries, mankind has been captive of climates, of vegetations, of animal populations, of cultures, of a long-built balance from which it can’t move away without reconsidering it all. Just see, along ages, a few examples among thousands : the place of transhumance in mountain life, the permanence of some sectors of maritime life, the towns which take roots and which induce so many problems, the lasting lay-out of roads and large traffic axises. In the same manner, you can notice these permanences in cultural life by discovering, for example, the persistence of certain themes or certain sensibility lines through generations. And you can also notice them in the field of economic systems. Roughly, we entered, around 1750, in the industrial civilization from which we still are not out. But before, from the 13th to the 18th century, you are facing four or five centuries of economic life which, despite lots of changes, present an assured coherence
The first thing I try to inculcate to my students with my Mundane Astrology course is the consciouness of the differential rhythms of history which must lead the astrologer to use conceptual tools adapted to the more or less wide opening of their investigations. So we can, on a long term, study series of triple Neptune-Pluto cycles that carve up about 1500 years long historical slices in the long time of civilization history. The Belgian historian Jacques Pirenne tends to see such long periods in the history of ancient Egypt. For studies of medium duration, the astrologer can usefully refer to a time scale related to the Uranus-Pluto cycle (the one running from 1343 to 1456 for example for the Hundred years war) or to the Saturn-Pluto cycle (the one running from 1914 to 1947 for these two european civil wars that were World War One and Two, corresponding in many ways to the tragic Peloponnesian war which caused the political erasing of the Greeks in front of Roman power). The speed planets interferences on a given slow planets configuration will ease the analysis of short term crisises, such as the May 1968 one for instance.

Application to the 1914 crisis
Let’s try now an experiment by being stuck on an astrologer who, in 1912, would have used the same forecasting investigation method than our but who would not have, of course, the knowledge of the events that occured in 1914. What would produce the strict application of our method?
___________________________________________________________
First of all, we would build the graphical ephemerides tables for the 1913-1915 period by restricting to Saturn and to the trans-Saturnians so as to have an idea of the background. In principle, we first work on an H4 scale which allows us to easily distinguish the conjunctions, the oppositions and the squares ; but here, the H8 table reveals the presence, during this period, of two aspects, a Saturn-Uranus sesqui-square and a Saturn-Neptune semi-square which are nearly relaying the Uranus-Neptune opposition, which is the centrepiece of this period with the Saturn-Pluto conjunction at the beginning of Cancer. One first element that deserves to be noticed : the astrologer has to link subtlety mind and geometry mind, and the choice of an appropriate frame and a scale adapted to actual celestial configurations results of this subtlety mind.
___________________________________________________________
Just a precision concerning the Uranus-Neptune cycle. Both French-German wars in 1870 and 1914-1918 occured between two major steps in the Uranus-Neptune cycle : the square in 1870 at 18° Aries-Cancer in resonance with 1993 conjunction at 18° Capricorn, and next the opposition, which was actual from 1906 to 1910 but which has to be broadened to the waxing quindecile phase (from 1899 to 1902) and to the waning quindecile phase (from 1914 to 1918). This minor aspect appears like bringing actualization to what is meant by the opposition.
___________________________________________________________
In a second step, we will insert into this slow planets diagram the Jupiterian and the Marsian interferences by still using a H8 scale and by limiting our study on year 1914. Then we can see during January the Jupiter-Neptune opposition relayed by dissonant Saturnian aspects (semi-square and sesqui-square) and mainly, during March, the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction which is the choice cut of the year 1914 with the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction which occurs from October the 4th and november the 1st (a third passing on May 19th 1915).
From this table, what could be the forecasting reasoning ? The base Uranus-Neptune opposition, which is in the orb during almost a decade, marks the political strengths polarization facing in two challenging camps ; our 1912 hypothetical astrologer knows the grievous alliance treaties of which the automatism is finally going to cause a suicidal conflict. By the way, just note that such a configuration will occur during the 21st century with the Uranus-Neptune opposition around 2080.. Between 1914 and 1918, the Uranus-Neptune cycle passes over a quindecile before opposition phase : this is a period when the tensions indicated by the opposition have a last chance to manifest itself with strength. The threat of a generalized conflict at that time would have been possible on a double condition : the first one is pure astronomical and consists in refering on the indications provided by the Uranus-Neptune cycle, the second one is geopolitical and consists in considering the games of alliances between European powers as being likely to throw two blocks in a conflict that noone basically was really wishing and that, in its consequences, turned grievous for everyone.
Second step in the forecasting reasoning : on this Uranus-Neptune cycle background, we will incorporate both the major conjunctions of year 1914, the one of Jupiter-Uranus in March and the one of Saturn-Pluto in October-November. The fisrt one, which bears in itself the meaning of an explosive expansion, is not linked to a warrior meaning but here it could work as the trigger of the Saturn-Pluto conjunction, much more heavy and forewarning of deep reorganizations (the nature of these reorganizations in themselves is not necessary of a warrior nature). De facto, the Uranus-Neptune opposition relay is continued up till the Pluto by Saturn line and by Jupiter as well, which will be forming in August and at the end of November a particularly dissonant quartet. Specifically, the Jupiter-Pluto conjunction explosive impact is like carried by Jupiter in the frame of a heavy tension constituted by the Saturn-Pluto conjunction at the beginning of Cancer (Aquarian Jupiter being at the sesqui-square of the Saturn-Pluto conjunction).

___________________________________________________________
At that point, taking into account the Marsian interferences can lead to a prognosis of potential conflict. Indeed, the dynamic charge driven by the Mars retrogradation will first touch the dissolving Saturn-Neptune opposition in April and next, at the end of May, it will reach the Apex point (0° cardinal), with the Mars-Pluto semi-square at 0° Cancer. The transit of Mars in Libra at mid-August is particularly powerful since it will be square to the Saturn-Pluto conjunction and it will activate in the same time the dissonant relationship with Jupiter by a sesqui-square. But the element which contributes to point the forecast toward a warlike prognosis is the constitution of a trio Mars-Saturn-Pluto with this transit of Mars on the Saturn-Pluto conjunction, and we often see it working in a war context. That was the case, for instance, during the French-Prussian war in 1870, with the Mars-Saturn square forming a double sesqui-square with Pluto in Taurus at the end of December 1870 and at the beginning of January 1871.
So, an astrologer applying a forecast approach based on a strict ordering of planetary cycles and on the interlocking of cyclic interferences going from the slowest planets to the quickest could have forecast, by just taking into consideration a few elements such as the Uranus-Neptune opposition, both the Saturn-Pluto and Jupiter-Uranus conjunctions and the Marsian transits consecutive to the retrogradation of Mars and getting to a Mars-Saturn-Pluto trio, the possibility of a war between two competing coalitions which constituted little by little all along the raise of the Uranus-Neptune cycle toward the opposition phase. Moreover, by taking into account the length of the quindecile aspect (165°) between Uranus and Neptune, this very astrologer, assuming that he had a moutain-moving faith in the great book of planetery heaven, could have taken the risk to consider a long-term war from 1914 to 1918... That let us thoughtful regarding the possibilities of our Urania Art, when the astrologer remains humble in presence of the stars and when he sticks to the most uncluttered picture.Nevertheles, even armed from the feet to the head in his solid methodological groundwork, which is in sum just a review of the Mundane practice of André Barbault for more than 60 years, our 1912 astrologer couldn’t have given this prognosis for the simple reason Pluto has not been discovered then and was not yet an element of Mundane specialist outfitter. In 1912, an astrologer could have taken the Uranus-Neptune opposition into account but, as he couldtn’t see the Autumn Saturn-Pluto opposition, he probably would have grounded his judgment on the dissonant transit if Saturn to this opposition (which lasts from Summer 1913 to Summer 1914). Dissonant Saturn to the Uranus-Neptune opposition being constituted by a semi-square and a sesqui-square, and not by a square, we may think the prognosis would have been less neat. And he would have missed the Jupiterian transit which will support the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction tensions in March 1914 to the Autumn Saturn-Pluto opposition.
After the fact, according to the new knowledge that the nowadays astrologer have at disposal due to the discovery of new planetary factors, this situation evokes in a smashing way the French revolution picture which takes place in the following of the discovery of Uranus in 1781. An astrologer who would have scrutinized the astralities of the 22nd of September 1792, the very day when the republic has been exclaimed, would have of cource noticed the angular position of Jupiter on the ascendant opposed to Saturn on the descendant as well as the culmination of Uranus on the MC. Certainly, this picture is very telling and let us think about the Jupiter-Saturn-Neptune trio which is characteristic of some republics which have succeeded until now. But the picture becomes much deeper and more powerful when introducing Neptune in conjunction to Jupiter (and opposed to Saturn) and when introducing Pluto in the IC in opposition to Uranus. So, French revolution is grounded on the double opposition of Saturn-Neptune and Uranus-Pluto cycles.

___________________________________________________________
And we can build an instructive picture of the march toward the revolutionary period, a rich and complex picture, the logic of which is spreading out in the frame of the transit of Uranus going from Neptune (waning square Uranus-Neptune in 1784) to Pluto (Uranus-Pluto opposition in 1793).

In our actual works, we must remain aware of the possible discovery of new planetary factors which may alter the whole cyclic picture. A trans-Plutonian planet, for example, would let appear some cycles in the whole course of the history of civilizations, which could be revealed as more globalizing than the 5-centuries longlasting Neptune-Pluto cycles. But these other planetary factors may also appear inside our solar system which spreads over Pluto ; we have a striking example of that with the discovery of Chiron in 1977, the taking into account of which has not yet received all the attention it deserves in Mundane Astrology. The exciting research of a colleague and friend of mine, Benoît de Meester from Belgium, shows the interest : he has been exploring for years the relationships between Chiron cycles and the destinies of a large number of royal European families. My keenest desire is these works to be published soon and presented to the attention of astrologers and historians.
The deviation between celestial algebra and mundane events
With the example of year 1914, we saw that astrology enables to understand, with rather simle means – one conjunction Uranus-Neptune, two oppositions Jupiter-Uranus and Saturn-Pluto and a quindecile Uranus-Neptune from 1914 to 1918- the celestial lettering of a conflict, as important as World War One (we could add to these factors the cyclic index diagram but we will leave this precious indicator aside as it deserves a complete study). To that level of simplicity and generality, it is possible to propound a great value forecast, as it has been shown by the successful forecast André Barbault made about the year 1989 and the renewal of the Saturn-Neptune cycle. But it becomes perilous to look after a sharper and more circumstantial forecast of events. It is necessary for the astrologer to be penetrated by the idea of a shift between the celestial algebra, which is provided by the situation of the planetary cycles for a given period, and the paste of the terrestrial events, which is just seldom written at the very moment of an evocative configuration of slow planets. It is only after the fact that we can be fascinated by the subtle game of the speed planets interferences and of the harmonics that can be revealed, for instance, by some mid-points or by the cyclic links between several planetary cycles all along their different phases, from the sometimes far conjunction to the precise aspect (sometimes « minor ») which goes with an historical event. Missing Charles Harvey provided lots of examples of the stunning harmony which is written on the canvass of the planetary cycles in relation with World War Two astralities.
The prognosis of war probability presumably appears for the year 1914, assuming of course that the existing of Pluto has been shown, information which was not available for astrologers before 1930. In the frame of a rational approach of cycles ordering, it would even have been possible to locate the beginning of the war in early August. Actually, between the 12th and the 17th of September, the sesqui-square Mars-Jupiter applies on the conjunction Saturn-Pluto (prognosis which could be reinforced by the conjunction of the Moon to Saturn-Pluto on that day).
___________________________________________________________
But in fact, the war started on August the 2nd, not on the 17th. And the entering into the fateful crisis occured, as we all know, on June the 28th by the assasination of Archduke Ferdinand, heir apparent of the Austro-Hungarian empire, visiting Sarajevo. It seems unlikely, in my opinion, that an astrologer could have precisely put his finger on both these dates in advance.
The Russian army sacrifice in Western Prussia certainly enabled the French-British troops to hold and, during this very active and mobile first part of the war, obligated the German to uphold considerable forces on the East front, because they were fearing that Berlin could be in the hands of Russians at the very moment when the German troops were dangerously coming near Paris. In the first volume of his huge epic tale entitled The red wheel, Alexandre Soljénitsyne drawn up a striking picture of the swallowing up of the hundred thousands men of the Samsonov army in the sandy forests of Western Prussia, at the very place where, five centuries before, Slavics beat back the German invasion at the Tannenberg Battle (15th of July 1410).
___________________________________________________________
The lesson we can get from this example concerning World War One is that Mundane Astrology must carefully distinguish two complementary approaches : on the one hand, a forecasting approach essentially grounded on the cyclic evolution of the slow planets whose interest is in keeping at a generality level, middle course between the celestial positions algebra and the paste of terrestrial events, and which should not try to close in on too much the particular circumstances and the events themselves. On the ther hand, after the fact, once the historical drama being completed, the analysis may spread out in order to emphasize the exceptional celestial harmonics which illuminate the completed events by some numerous unsuspected meanings and which come to a metaphysical meditation concerning the order of the world, the nature of time and of eternity.
Exercice of forecast inthe future :
the 2010-2015 crisis
The Uranus-Pluto square, masterpiece of the period
Let’s look now into near future, so as to illustrate our forecasting approach without having the guide rail of events knowledge that the historian takes benefit from. Our starting point will be the examination of configurations of the slow-moving planets around the centerpiece of this period, namely the Uranus-Pluto square which takes place in waxing phase that goes from the conjunction in 1965 to the opposition in 2046-2048. One foremost key-figure of this period is given by the chart of Saturn-Uranus opposition on the 26th of July 2010 and which implies an impressive amount of major cycles
___________________________________________________________________
By following an order going from trans-Saturnian planets to Saturnian and Jupiterian interferences, we noticed the following cyclic aspects :
-
Uranus-Pluto square (last conjunction in 1965 ).
-
Saturn-Pluto Square (last conjunction in 1982).
-
Saturn-Uranus opposition (last conjunction in 1988).
-
Jupiter-Uranus conjunction (previous conjunction in 1997)
-
Jupiter-Saturn Opposition (previous conjunction in 2000).
-
Jupiter-Pluto square (previous conjunction in 2007).
__________________________________________________________
Mars going to the conjunction of Saturn adds to this impressive diagram a supplementary touch of extreme and over-activated tension, with the explosive trio Mars-Saturn-Pluto and Mars-Jupiter-Uranus. The impact of these astralities is even more reinforced by their position on the vernal/automnal axis (0° Aries for the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction and 0° Libra for Saturn). Each element of this exceptional planetary chessboard should be precisely analysed before providing a forecasting judgment ; but, in such a complex whole, it seems to me preferable, first of all, to just take the heaviest elements of the diagram into account, as the Saturn-Uranus-Pluto T-square (knowing that the Uranus pole is strengthened by the Jupiter conjunction). The Jupiter-Uranus conjunction and other Jupiterian interferences to Saturn and Pluto can be considered secondly.
We can assert that, in order to enlighten our forecasting approach, we have at disposal a recent study made by André Barbault himself. Indeed, in 2004, a new edition of his book published in 1979 with the title Introduction à l’astrologie mondiale « Introduction to Mundane Astrology » brought out with a new foreword and appendix dedicated to “The 2010 World crisis”. The fact that the three cycles of trans-Saturnian planets are all in their waxing phases since the 1993 Uranus-Neptune conjunction until the Uranus-Neptune opposition in 2048, is the primary element taken into account by André Barbault in his analysis. He deduces from that a prognostication of global expansion portending on all the first half of the 21st century and he associates the last Uranus-Neptune conjunction to the « globalization » phenomenon. In this promising statement, the 2010 crisis appears like the first major historical appointment of the 21st century. André Barbault starts out by pushing aside the hypothesis of a third World War in its traditional conception as a conflict between great powers likely to have recourse to the atomic weapon. As far as, in Barbault’s thinking, the Jupiter-Saturn cycle concerns Europe and the Saturn-Uranus cycle concerns the United States of America, the opposition of Saturn to the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction appears to him as a clue of a crisis involving altogether Europ and the USA. We can probably associate the last Saturn-Uranus conjunction in 1988 with the accession of the USA to the rank of world’s superpower ; then, the time of opposition could pause to a continuous expansion during the waxing phase of the cycle. This forecast is all the more credible that the dissonant trio Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus is generally related to economic crises and wars. According to André Barbault, 2010 may be at the most probable “the outburst of a wide-ranging economic crisis, both American and European powers being particularly sensible to this major test.[1].
Since then, we have worked on the basis of Saturn opposed to the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction. We must now bring in the analysis the Plutonian element which is the apex of the T-square. In his writings, André Barbault relates the Saturn-Pluto cycle to China and the Uranus-Pluto cycle to Japan. In my opinion, in a chapter of my book « World geopolitical evolution » dedicated to China, I emphasized the Saturn-Uranus-Pluto trio, which has been constantly present in the modern history of this country, at least since the Opium War in 1840.. If we consider the lessons of geopolitics, we will note that the epicentre of the international relationships tends to be more and more located in the heart of Asia where a « Great game » confronts the most considerable powers of our time : in reference to the September 11th 2001 attack, the United States of America settled in the heart of Asia by leaning on Afghanistan and Pakistan ; in the same time, the super-power ambitions seem to raise in direction of Russia, toward which the USA apply a containment policy according to a doctrin enunciated before by Zbigniew Brzezinsky, and also in direction of China in the perspective of an inescapable confrontation during the 21st century. Couldn’t we say that the China Usa clash first began under the Uranus-Pluto conjunction in 1965 at the time of the war in Vietnam (following the Corean war at the beginning of the 50’s) ? Next Uranus-Pluto square could reactivate this tension (regarding Taiwan or any other pretext). On another hand, we can notice since Spring 2005 a vivid renewal of tension between China and Japan, the true reason being probably the appointment of Japan at the UNO security council within next Automn, which would remove from China the monopole of Asian representation in this International tribune. Shall we see in this quivering the prodromes of a much more vivid confrontation in 2010? On another hand, the Saturn-Pluto square goes with the recurrrent India-Pakistan conflicts regarding Kashmeer ; the possession of the atomic weapon by both these powers certainly played the role of the “terror balance” at the moment of the Saturn-Pluto opposition in 2001-2002, preventing the trigger of a new war while hundreds of thousands soldiers were still camping at the borders. Will it be the same during the waning square in 2010 and under the next Saturn-Pluto conjunction in 2020 ?
One of the most adventuring challenges for an astrologer is the precise definition of the phenomena concerned at the time of a grand conjunction ; most often, things just get clear during the ulterior phases of the cycle, after the waxing square and the waxing trine. What are the promises of the 1965 conjunction ? We are at that time at the very root of the computer explosion that will deeply transform the operation of society and the way of life of all the people on planet earth ; at that turning point, also starts a generalized value and institutions crisis which reaches the atomization and the formatting of the individuals, if we may say so, to the demands of globalization that has mainly developed since the Uranus-Neptune conjunction in 1993. But it is also, let’s not forget it, the moment when, in China, a cultural revolution happened which devastated the several milleniums heritage of one of the most ancient civilizations and which ruined the life of millions of people. It is interesting to parallel the opposition of Saturn to Uranus-Pluto in 1965-1966 and the triple Saturn-Uranus-Pluto conjunction in 1850 which came with the famous Taipong rebellion worsened by the peasant insurgencies and the Muslims revolts in Chinese Turkestan.. Between 1850 and 1870, this wave of popular uprisings induced millions of deaths in China. Assuming that the phenomenon, which was born at the moment of the conjunction, is being confronted with the waxing square phase to some difficulties of accomplishment in the world, we can consider for the Uranus-Pluto waxing square period from 2010 to 2015, on the one hand a difficult period for the communist regime which is still in power now in Peking, and on the other hand a jolt or a streak of constraints driving to adaptation to our technological and information environment to the demands of nature. Maybe the decline of values which is in process since the mid-60’s will strike against the aspirations formulated by the generations born at the moment of the Uranus-Neptune in 1993 and during the transit of Jupiter on this conjunction in 1997.
Table for 2010-2015 period
If we would like to extend and refine the analysis of the Uranus-Pluto square period, we should now insert the table of Saturnian and Jupiterian interferences from the 2010 opening astralities, and then precisely examine the Mars retrogradations and the speed planets gathering for each of the observed years. It would be bothersome to do now this long and narrow examination but we can just have a look to the general table of cyclic evolutions between 2009 and 2016.
-
In the heart of this period : Jupiter transit on the Uranus-Pluto square in 2013
-
Opening of the period ; Jupiter transit on the Saturn-Uranus opposition square to
-
End of the period : Jupiter transit on the Saturn-Neptune square.
As a conclusion, we will just remind that we should not forget an important factor in the cyclic table of this period, at least up till to 2011 : I want to evoke here the Neptune-Pluto septile, which is in the orb from December 2001 to February 2011. Just remember that the septile and its multiples, resulting from the division of the Zodiac into 7, is related to the notion of « fatality », to an access to a higher dimension understanding, to an awakening of a fundamental truth that rests on the conjunction in the concerned planetary cycle.
During the second half of the 20th century and during the third part of the 21st century, the Neptune-Pluto cycle happens to oscilate between the phase of sextile (30 degrees) and septile (51 degrees 30 minutes). As far as we know, the distinction between both these phases was not revealed by Mundane Astrology specialists. André Barbault emphasized on the protective role of sextile (according to him, it saved the planet Earth of an atomic war). The 51°30 phase, which will be precise from 2001 to 2011 and which will be followed by a new sextile phase from 2026 to 2032, should be interpreted according to the specific meaning of a septile in its cyclic motion. According to Charles Harvey, the number 7, to which the septile must be related, has to see with the inspiration impulse, to a kind of higher vision which proceeds from the perception of unity, from the globality of the idea behind the parts which express it.
The beginning of this « minor » aspect happened to be when Saturn was opposite to Pluto in 2001-2002 while the end of the septile will be during the Saturn-Pluto waning square in 2010. It might be that the Neptune-Pluto septile will particularly concern main innovation in the field of science and techniques. Just notice two scientific events that happened at the beginning of this long septile Neptune-Pluto phase in 2001 : first cloning of human embryo (26th of November 2001) and discovery of the first extra-solar planet having an atmosphere (28th of November). On an other field, we could evoke the first showing on December the 1st 2001 of Peter Jackson’s film inspired by Tolkien’s Lord of the Ring. That was all the more remarkable than, during the first phase of septile between 1937 and 1942, Tolkien wrote out the first draft of Lord of the Ring. In my book Tolkien, the song of the world, I put into perspective the whole extent of legendary Tolkien and the whole depth of his vision which corresponds perfectly, according to me, with the 1891 Neptune-Pluto conjunction spirit, from which Tolkien himself was born.[2]

Appendix – The cycles Uranus-Pluto
___________________________________________________________
If the Uranus-Pluto square is the centerpiece of the 2010 configuration, we must go back in the past to find similar configurations and to make a judgment on their effects on events, so as to have a right measure of its possible impact. We will restrict our investigation to the two last completed cycles, the one which goes from 1710 to 1850 and the one which goes from 1850 to 1965 (the Uranus-Pluto cycles have a duration of 115 years or 140 years according to the unequal speed of the transit of Pluto in the zodiacal signs). The 1710-1850 cycle ponctuates some major contentious confrontations : it starts at the heart of the Spanish succession war, the last conflict opposing Louis the 14th to a terrible European coalition animated by England and Austria ; the waxing square in 1755-1758 occures at the beginning of the Seven Years War which confronts on the seas France and England, and on land Prussia to other European powers ; with the Treaty of Paris in 1763, France lost the main part of its colonies (Canada and India) ; the 1792-1794 opposition goes with the revolutionary war launched toward all Europ by France, which was at that time plunged in Jacobin Terror. It doesn’t seem that the next cycle, from 1850 to 1965, can be associated in the same way to some conflicts between great powers ; André Barbault, drawed the attention on the fact that, during the waxing phase of this cycle (from 1850 to 1902), a spreading of European population all over the world occured, while during the waning phase (after the double turning of the Boer War and the Boxers rebellion in China) the European demographic decrease went with the different decolonization phases.
